Number of Arrests after Ashoura Protests Exceeds 2000

Radio German 19/Dec/09: According to international news and trusted sources after Ashoura’s protest that ended in brutality with the regimes involvement, many political activists have been arrested.

Names of some of those who were arrested:

Mashallah Shamsolvaezin, journalist and spokesperson for Free Press
Shapoor Kazemi, Zahra RAhnavard’s brother

Mostafa Izadi, writer and journalist

Badrosadat Mofidi, secretary of the Association of Journalists

Keyvan Mehregan, political secretary for Etemad Newspaper

Nasrin Vaziri, press parliamentary correspondent ILNA and News Online

Zohreh Tonkaboni and Mahin Fahimi, Peace Mothers

Reza Tajik, journalist and national-religious activist

Sam Mahmoudi, journalist and photographer

Reformist news sources announced that the number of arrests reached 2000, and after Tehran, most of the arrests were from Isfahan.
