Youngsters used by mullahs to attack protesters in Tehran

Eye witnesses reported that the regime deployed youngster between 12 and 18 to attack demonstrators in Tehran today. These youngsters were seen among paramilitary Basij agents in Enghelab Square, Ferdowsi Square and Hafez Street. They used batons and truncheons and wore camouflage uniforms.

The young Basiji agents were in groups of 30 to 40 and were seen to be commanded by two or three older plainclothes agents.

Eye witnesses also reported that the suppressive agents hit the demonstrators with batons mostly on their heads and faces, inflicting heavy injuries.

Clashes between people and suppressive forces in cities across Iran

Clashes between people and suppressive forces in Esfahan, Shiraz, Tabriz, Mashhad, Kermanshah, Kerman, Sanandaj, Dezful and Babol

This afternoon, which marked the tenth anniversary of the July 9, 1999 uprising and the 27th day of the current nationwide uprising, most Iranian cities were the scene of popular protests. In most parts, brutal attacks on protestors by the suppressive forces led to clashes between people and the regime’s agents.

In Mashhad, despite a heavy presence of suppressive forces, some 8,000 people gathered in the Park Square and in nearby streets. Suppressive forces used guns and batons to prevent others from gathering and join the demonstration. Dozens of people, including women, were arrested. The crowd chanted “I will kill those who killed my brother”. In many streets in Mashhad, people drove with their headlights on and honked their vehicles’ horn in solidarity with the protestors.

In Mashhad, near the holy shrine of Imam Reza, people gathered in groups of several hundreds. The suppressive forces tried to keep them apart by attacking them.

In Shiraz, a large crowd marched from Daneshjou Square toward Zand Street. The suppressive forces fired tear gas at thousands of demonstrators in Mullah Sadra Street and Daneshjou Square and clashed with them.

In Sanandaj, large number of people demonstrated despite strong presence of State Security Forces and anti-riot forces.

Widespread clashes at Azadi-Azerbaijan junction in Tehran

Large numbers of young people protested on the intersection of Azadi and Azerbaijan streets.Revolutionary Guards, anti-riot forces, and plainclothes agents attacked them.

The people resisted the onslaught by suppressive forces and chanted “God is great”, “Death to Khamenei”, “Death to the dictator”, and “Political prisoners must be freed”. Agents fired tear gas and pepper spray into the crowd.

In a separate incident in Kargar Street, an eight-year-old girl was rushed to hospital by people after becoming unconscious due to the strong fumes of the tear gas.

At 18.30 local time, in the course of clashes in Vali Asr Street, people managed to free a young woman who had been detained by female members of the paramilitary Bassij.

Protests in dozens of spots across Tehran, many youths arrested

Gatherings and protests erupted Thursday afternoon in dozens of spots across Tehran. Thousands of young people took part at some of these locations. In most spots, attacks on protestors by suppressive forces led to clashes.

Thousands participated in protests at Enghelab Square, 16-Azar Street, and Kargar Street, and widespread clashes ensued. People at Vali Asr Junction chanted “Death to the dictator”, “God is Great”, and “Shah Supreme leader, your death is coming”.

Large numbers of protestors have been injured or arrested. At 19.30 local time, 16 people were arrested near Enghelab Square. Many people have been badly injured by suppressive forces using batons and tear gas.

People resisted barbaric attacks by the Revolutionary Guards and chanted ‘death to Khamenei,’ ‘death to the dictator’ and ‘do not be afraid, we are all together.’ In some parts the suppressive forces tried to disperse the crowd by firing into the air.

In order to prevent people from joining the demonstration, the suppressive forces shut down metro stations in some parts of Tehran.
