According to reports received by human rights and democracy activists in Iran, student prisoner Shabnam Madad Zadeh is suffering from severe irregularities in her heart. It is now more than 20 days that she is suffering from this heart problem, and her situation is worsening. She has been refused treatment for unfounded reasons, which has now put her life in serious danger.
The student prisoner Shabnam Madad Zadeh is in a critical situation and she is very young. No one in Shabnam’s family, including herself have any history of heart complications. Shabnam has gone to the Evin clinic several times since her heart problem started, but each time they have told her that their ECG machine is broken, therefore they can’t do anything for her.
A female member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard named Gaffari who works in the Evin prison clinic told Miss Madad Zadeh: “We didn’t bring you here to save you. You are here so we can kill you under torture.”
This answer is given by a person whose responsibility is to give medical services to the prisoners who seriously need it, regardless of their views or beliefs. Such a statement shows that the interrogators of the Ministry of Information are following unlawful procedures using the cover of staff for the women’s prisone clinic.
They threaten and repress the political prisoners and try to remove them physically, even in the organizations which they have build under the title of health centers. They don’t even feel ashamed or scared of telling their evil intentions to the prisoners.
The Madad Zadeh family were shocked when they heard the answer given to their daughter by Gaffari. For curing and saving their daughter, they went to the current chief of the Revolutionary Court branch 28 , Moghisei, who has been a member of the death committee and has taken part in the mass murder of the political prisoners in 1989. The lives of two Madad Zadeh children are in his hands. Moghisei insulted Shabnam’s 72 year old father, and without letting him speak, told him in the most disrespectful and violent way, ‘You are hypocrites.’ Before Mr. Madad Zadeh could speak about the critical situation of his daughter, Moghisei ordered him to get out.
Since the female political prisoners have transferred to the public part of the prison, some have mysteriously contracted different diseases which they have never had before. In addition to Shabnam Madad Zadeh, Ms. Mahsa Naderi is also suffering from severe and ongoing headaches.
Furthermore, the court for Shabnam Madad Zadeh and her brother Farzad Madad Zadeh have been postponed several times with unacceptable reasons. Currently they are awaiting court on 14 Azar (December 5, 2009). Ms. Madad Zadeh and other female political prisoners are prohibited from seeing their families, while ordinary prisoners and dangerous criminals are allowed to meet their families every week.
The student prisoner Shabnam Madad Zadeh was kidnapped by agents of the Ministry of Information on February 1, 2009. Her brother was called to the Ministry of Information and he was arrested. They are both detained in the frightening part of Evin prison, section 209. Their situation has been unconfirmed for nearly eight months now.
The human right and democracy activists in Iran, are worried about the mysterious diseases of female political prisoners and are seriously opposing the unjust and inhumane behaviour against them; such as the lack of treatment, indirect threats of death, and their family members being insulted by a judge. The human rights and democracy activists in Iran asks the Commissioner of Human Rights and the UN’s Special Rapporteur for immediate action in order to save the lives and bring freedom to female political prisoners in Iran.
