In a decision that is worthy of being called obstruction of justice, a judge at the Revolutionary Court blocked Omid Shokri’s lawyer from accessing his case file.
HRA- The ethnic rights unit of HRA reports that, according to sources close to Shokri family, on Wednesday, November 11th, 2009, Omid Shokri’s lawyer who had sought access to his client’s case file-in order to prepare the defense case for the upcoming trial- was told by judge Ghandestani that he did not have the right to access his client’s case file.
Shokri was arrested on October 19th, 2009 for having ties to anti-regime groups but was released on bali from Ardabi prison 33 days later. Shokri is an Azarbayjani civil activist who worked as a journalist for several news agencies including ISNA, Miras-Khabar. He is also the former editor in chief of Sayan student publication.
