The 26th branch of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran sentenced the journalist and defense lawyer, Kambiz Noroozi, to 2 years in prison and 76 lashes. Noroozi was accused of propagating against the regime by participating in the June 15th rally, disturbing public order and conspiracy against national security.
Noroozi, who is the legal officer of the Association of Journalists, was arrested on June 28th outside Ghoba Mosque. He was detained for 2 weeks but was released later.

6 Year Jail Term Handed to Behzadian-Nejad for Comments Written on his Website
Ali behzadian-Nejad was sentenced to 6 years in prison for comments left on his website by site’s visirors. The defense attorney, Mohammad Hossein Moradi, said: “my client who has a weblog was given a 6 year prison sentence, based on Articles 500 and 610 of the Islamic Penal Law, for comments left by weblog’s visitors. We consider the ruling unjustified; if the owner of a weblog should be punished for comments left by others, then the Telephone Companies who provide SMS services should also be punished for unlawful SMS messages sent by their customers”.
The verdict seems to be inline with recent threats made by IRGC regarding Internet users.
