Eyewitnesses: Iranian police clashed with demonstrators in Northern Tehran
AFP – December 26: Eyewitness reports that on Saturday, Iranian police clashed with thousands of opposition supporters who chanted anti-government slogans in northern Tehran.
An eyewitness said: “Police told demonstrators that they may have five minutes to leave the place and while they were still chanting slogans, biker police forces went among people and sprayed them with tear gas."
People gathered around Jamaran mosque because former President Mohammad Khatami was supposed to give a speech on the occasion of the holy day of Ashoora.
Khomeini used to give speeches to people in Jamaran mosque. Witnesses reported that demonstrators shouted “Death to this dictatorship.”
Witnesses said counter-insurgency protesters and militia Basijis were going after demonstrators in crowded streets of Niavaran and they were being shot at with color bullets.
Witnesses also said that a group of demonstrators were arrested.

شاهدان عيني : پليس ايران در شمال تهران با تظاهركنندگان درگير شده است
خبرگزاري فرانسه - 26 دسامبر- شاهدان عيني گفتند پليس ايران روز شنبه در شمال تهران با هزاران نفر از هواداران اپوزيسيون كه شعارهاي ضد دولتي ميدادند درگير شد
يك شاهد عيني گفت ” پليس به تظاهركنندگان گفت كه پنج دقيقه وقت دارند تا محل را ترك كنند و هنگامي كه آنها هنوز شعار داده و به اين كار ادامه ميدادند, نيروهاي پليس با موتور سيكلت به ميان جمعيت رفتند و گاز اشك آور شليك كردند”
جمعيت در نزديك مسجد جماران تجمع كرده بودند و قرار بود محمد خاتمي رئيس جمهور سابق به مناسبت روز مقدس عاشورا در اين مسجد سخنراني كند , خميني قبلا در مسجد جماران براي مردم سخنراني ميكرد
شاهدان گزارش كردند كه تظاهركنندگان شعار ميدادند ” مرگ بر اين ديكتاتوري ”
شاهدان گفتند پليس ضد شورش و اعضا شبه نظاميان بسيجي تظاهر كنندگان را در خيابان شلوغ نياوران تعقيب ميكردند و بطرف آنها گلوله هاي رنگي شليك ميكردند
شاهدان همچنين گفتند كه ديده شده كه تعدادي از تظاهركنندگان دستگير شده اند
