The wave of arrests continue in Tehran and other provinces

According to reports received from Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran, the wave of arrests in Tehran and other provinces continue. Among those arrested are student activists, women, youth, workers, children’s rights activists, mothers, and former political prisoners. The numbers of those arrested increase daily.

In recent days, Mr. Alireza Nabavi, husband of political prisoner Atefeh Nabavi, was arrested in an attack by Intelligence Ministry officials. He has been taken to an undisclosed location. Currently two members of his family are in prison: Seyed Zia Nabavi (editor of the council for Defending Education) and Atefeh Nabavi.

On Thursday, January 31st, 54 year old Parviz Varzmarzian, a former political prisoner, was attacked by the Intelligence Ministry officials. She has been taken to an unknown location. Mr. Varzmarzian is one of the political prisoners of the 1980’s who spent more than seven years in prison under brutal torture. Three of his children are in Ashraf Gharargah in Iraq.

Majid Rezaei was arrested in an attack by Intelligence Ministry officials. He has been taken to an undisclosed location.

After already killing people on the day of Ashura, the Judicial System of Iran, as well as security and judicial forces of the Supreme Leader, have confirmed the order of execution for those arrested on Ashura and political prisoners. All their comments are indicative of their evil intentions to execute political prisoners in Iran.

Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran condemn the extensive arrests and savage attacks on people’s privacy; all crimes against humanity. HRDAI asks the Royal Commissioner of Human Rights and other international organizations to take immediate action to save the lives of Iranian political prisoners.
