Two Kurdish Activists in Imminent Danger of Execution

Two Kurdish Activists in Imminent Danger of Execution.

In the past few days, and in the wake of the execution of Kurdish political activist Fasih Yasamani, there is information of a serious threat of imminent execution of some other Kurdish political and civil activists such as Habib Lotfi, Farzad Kamangar, Zeynab Jalalian, Shirko Maarefi, and others.
Based on the credible news received by the headquarters of the Campaign to Defend Political and Civil Prisoners, the threat of imminent execution of Farzad Kamangar and Habib Latifi looms. Given the present circumstances, the possibility is strong; security and intelligence officials of Kurdistan province have repeatedly threatened Farzad Kamangar that he would be executed. Habib Lotfi, a Kurdish student activist, has been summoned by Sanandaj Central Prison’s director Eskandari where he was told that there is no impediment in carrying out the execution. Eskandari advised Mr. Lotfi to seek an official pardon.

The death sentences might be carried out in the same manner Fasih Yassamani, in a shocking move, was hanged last Wednesday morning without any prior announcement.

The Campaign to Defend the Political and Civil Prisoners has always tried to spread credible news while uncovering misinformation campaigns (It has, for example, revealed the lie behind the news which stated that the death sentences of Habib Latifi and Shirkoo Moarefi had been overturned). The Campaign works without any media interest, and it only tries to serve the political and civil activist prisoners.

Consequently, the campaign asks all the human rights organizations and institutions as well as all conscientious individuals all over the world, especially Iranians and Kurds, to support the jailed Kurdish political and civil activists, and prevent another tragedy of the current crisis.
