Iran’s Intelligence Ministry Called on People to Spy on Opposition

Radio France: Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic has issued a threatening statement against protest leaders. The statement, which is supposed to serve as an ultimatum, links the current protests in the country to non-religious opposition groups. The statement stresses that it will soon publish the credible information it has obtained about the ties between what it calls “seditionist” and “foreign powers” as well as Islamic Republic opponents.

The Ministry of Intelligence, elsewhere in the statement, states that activities leading to a “velvet revolution” will not succeed in Iran.

The Ministry has added that it has showed tolerance in dealing with protesters in order to identify the main instigators, but since the unrests have targeted Velayate-Faghih [Guardianship of Jurisprudence, the tole owned by Ayatollah Khamenei, the ultimate power-breaker in Iran], it will not show leniency toward the opposition anymore.

Finally, the statement has asked people to provide the Ministry with their tips, evidences, and information, including films and videos against the opposition.
