Latest Situation on the Arrests and Attacks at the House of Member of Mourning Mothers

A number of activists have been arrested by security forces who attacked the apartment of Mahin Fahimi, a member of Mothers for Peace [in Tehran].

Here is a report of some of the detainees on that day which fell on [a Shiite holy day] Ashura.

According to the Prisoners Unit for Iranian Human Rights Activists, on Ashura’s eve, security forces entered Ms. Fahimi’s apartment at around 11:30 pm and started to investigate her place without a permit.

When they were asked to show their investigation permit, they immediately wrote one and presented it to her. Then they entered the apartment of one of the neighbours, who is also a relative of Ms. Fahimi’s, and removed her computer.

They interrogated Ms. Fahimi and her guests for about four hours. They arrested Ms. Fahimi, two of her guests who were visitors from other cities, one of her relatives, and also student journalist Ardavan Tarakameh.
They then entered Ardavan Tarakameh’s place and investigated there as well. The day after, upon the inquiry of Omid Montazeri, Ms. Fahimi’s son who writes articles in newspapers such as Khabar, Khordad, and Farhahng-e-Aashti was arrested.

There were discussions the night before at Ms. Hamidi’s place regarding her lack of participation [in recent activities]. She has lost her husband Hamid Montazeri during the massacres of 1988, upon which she was repeatedly summoned to the Information Bureau, but this is the first time that her place is being investigated and she gets arrested along with her guests. All the detainees except Mr. Montazeri have informed their relatives of their arrest. Mr. Montazeri does not have any immediate relatives outside prison and his sister (Shokoufeh Montezeri) lives in Koln, Germany.

Later in the afternoon yesterday, during her second phone call, Ms. Fahimi confirmed her and her son’s detainment in Evin Prison. Only one of these six people has been formally announced in front of Evin and his/her identification documents were requested.

Another incident at the same time was detaining Ms. Zohreh Tonekaboni at her residence; she is one of the prisoners of the 80’s. Ms. Tonekaboni has lost her husband during the massacres of 1988 and is another member of Mothers for Peace. Mrs. Fahimi and Mrs. Tankaboni’s husbands have both been buried at Khavaran’s “unknown” mass grave site.
